Ovolifts Multi-Jack safely lifted an in-service DN450 crude oil pipeline in Victoria, enabling inspection and pipe support replacement without crane access.
PipeServ was engaged to support the inspection of a DN450 crude oil pipeline in Victoria by providing a safe pipeline lifting solution that allowed access to replace deteriorated pipe support materials. The pipeline was located within a rail easement where vehicle access was extremely limited and crane access was virtually impossible. Uneven terrain and the pipeline’s height above ground further increased the complexity of the work. A controlled lifting method was required to safely complete the inspection while keeping the pipeline in service

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the advantages of using Ovolifts instead of cranes for pipeline lifting?
Ovolifts provides a safer and more efficient alternative to cranes for lifting in-service pipelines. The system lifts directly from the existing pipe supports, eliminating suspended loads, reducing site congestion, and allowing controlled remote lifting. This minimises safety risks, lowers mobilisation costs, and enables maintenance in locations where crane access is difficult or impossible.
Can Ovolifts be used on live, in-service pipelines?
Yes. Ovolifts has been specifically engineered for on-stream pipeline lifting, allowing inspections, corrosion repairs, pipe support replacement, and maintenance to be completed while the pipeline remains in service. Every project is supported by an engineered Lift Plan and, where required, a Pipe Stress Analysis to ensure lifting remains within allowable stress limits
What types of pipelines and pipe supports can Ovolifts lift?
Ovolifts systems are designed to lift virtually any pipe diameter and can be configured for single or multiple pipelines. The tools can lift from a wide range of support types, including I-beams, channel beams, concrete sleepers, circular supports, and pipe shoes, making them suitable for refineries, petrochemical plants, power stations, mining operations, and pipeline infrastructure.
What maintenance activities can be completed using Ovolifts?
Ovolifts creates safe access beneath pipelines for a wide range of maintenance activities, including corrosion under pipe supports (CUPS) inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), pipe support replacement, coating repairs, composite wrap installation, and general pipeline remediation. By lifting multiple pipelines simultaneously where appropriate, maintenance can often be completed faster, with reduced downtime and lower project costs
